In present times many groups and individuals claim their adherence to the aqidah (creed) and manhaj (methodology) of Salaf, but when examined closely it gets crystal clear that they are effected with tamyee’ [1] or suffering from the cancer of Haddaadiyyah[2] and very few are strictly walking on the path of Salafiyyaah.

Mumayeen (those who are effected with tamyee) starts getting suffocated when the principals of jarh (criticism) are mentioned and when Ahlul Bid’ah Wal Ahwaa (people of innovation and desire) are refuted. They can’t hear the verdicts against their so called “Scholars” who are guilty of practicing Al Wala (loyalty) with deviant individuals and groups. You will see Mumayeen taking part in lectures and conferences along with individuals and groups who don’t have clarity in manhaj, trying to find excuses for them although their falsehood is as clearly visible as the mid-day sun. Mumayeen accuse Salafiyoon of being Harsh and extreme, even though if their (i.e. Salafiyoon) stand and position is based on the speeches of Scholars which is based on proofs from Qur’an, Sunnah & Ijma’ (consensus).

Mumayeen secretly or sometimes openly speak ill and warn from Salafi Scholars and Students of Knowledge who do not compromise. Furthermore, Mumayeen try to hide themselves behind those Salafi Scholars who have mistakes in their position on certain individuals and groups due to not been complete aware of them, although it is well-known principal Jarh Muffasar (detailed criticism) takes precedence over Tadeel Mujmal (general praise or recommendation). Mumayeen are also guilty of indulging in the Bid’ah of Al Muwaazanah (counterbalancing when refuting).

Ikhwanis [3], khawarij [4], Takfiri [5], Qutbis [6] Turathi [7] IRF [8] and their affiliates, Salman al-Awdah*, Safar al-Hawali*, Alee al-Halabee*, Adnan Aroor*, Muhammad al-Maghraawee*, Abu Ishaq al Huwaynee*, Muhammad Hassaan Al-Misree*, Abul Hasan Al Ma’rabi*, Abdur-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq*and their followers are affected with tamyee’

As for Haddaadees (those who have cancer of Haddaadiyyah) then they practice unjustified harshness and extremism. Declaring as deviants those who are reliable and well grounded from the Scholars and students of knowledge. Performing Bara (disavowal) on the issues of fiqh and ijtihad. Lack of hikmah in Dawah, Being hasty in taking positions or issuing rulings, Crossing the limits and not returning to the scholars are some of their hallmarks. Haddaadees busy themselves in trying to find errors and slips of reliable Scholars and students of Knowledge. In our time some of the haddaadees are guilty of the most extreme form of hizbiyyah[9]“

Lastly, the Salafiyoon then by the grace of Allaah Subhaanahu Wa Taaala they are the most knowledgeable people and strictly adhere the aqidah(creed) and manhaj (methodology) of Salaf, not compromising it with Ahlul Bid’ah Wal Ahwaa. They always sticking to the major scholars and returning to them in all affairs. Not practicing unjustified harshness and extremism, merciful towards common people. Applying hikmah in Dawah and not crossing the set limits. They are free from Hizbiyyah and Hadaadiyyah. They don’t take part in lectures and conferences along with unclear individuals and groups which call towards baatil or are unknown to the Scholars. They don’t find excuses for Ahlul Bid’ah Wal Ahwaa. They are respectful towards the Scholars and students of knowledge. The perform Al Wala with Ahlul haq and Bara with Ahlul Batil. They stop where the Salaf and scholars stop.

This is a translation of the comments that al-’Allaamah Saalih Ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan added to the words of Ameerus-Sunnah Naayif Ibn ‘Abdul-’Azeez – rahimahullaah – about Saudi Arabia’s Salafee manhaj.  These comments were delivered on the occasion of the recent “Salafiyyah is a Legislative Methodology” conference in Saudi Arabia.

Disinformation about Salafiyyah, Where Does It Come From?

Shaykh, Dr. Ahmad Bazmul, may Allah safeguard him, wrote: Disinformation about Salafiyyah comes from one of the following reasons:

(1): From the enemies of the people of the truth, the people of falsehood, they spread disinformation about Salafiyyah due to their hatred for and war against the people of truth. They spread this disinformation even if it contains biased lies and rumors.

They also make oppressive accusations and create false statements about the people of truth; they couple this with far-fetched interpretations and explanations of occurrences according to their desires. All with the purpose of deception and diversion from the truth.

(2): [From people] holding things to be from the Salafi methodology that in actuality are not from it. The actions of individuals, and their mistakes, that the Salafi methodology do not condone, are not to be attributed to Salafiyyah. And whoever attributes the mistakes of indivduals to Salafiyyah is oppressive and a liar.

(3): From disbelievers, polytheists and atheists who try to paint a tarnished picture of Islam; however, [they should be fair and propagate that] Salafiyyah is what the Messenger of Allah, may exalt his mention and grant him safety, came with.

So, it is clear from what has preceded that the source of this disinformation is the people of innovation, desires and misguidance, especially the modern-day Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimin) and Jama’ah al-Tabligh al-Ahbaab.¹

Eighth Question:

Some people say “I believe that the Salafee manhaj is the truth, however the character of the Salafees runs me away from this manhaj.”

Answer:

The answer to this question is from many aspects.

The first, did you accept Islam and follow the Salafee manhaj for the people or for Allaah? (Did you accept it) for Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, (and) to follow His religion, and to seek the reward from Him, the High and Exalted. You do not seek the reward from the people. If the people make mistakes, then stay away from their mistakes. And the one who mixes with the people and is patient upon their harm is better than those who do not mix with the people. This is the first thing.

The second thing: if you find from your brothers some opposition, mistakes and bad manners and they are Salafees, then you advise them and clarify to them, and be diligent upon guiding them.

Thirdly, by Allaah, your Salafee brothers with their bad manners that you complain about, they are – by Allaah – better than the hizbees, those whom you claim to possess praiseworthy mannerisms.

Fourthly, the Salafee with his manners is more lofty than the hizbee who has manners. This is because the hizbee is lowly and disgraced due to his hizbiyyah, and his oppositions to the truth.

Fifthly, we say to you O brother, (that) shaytaan in regards to these Salafee is diligent upon causing conflicts and disputes between them and trying to corrupt their mannerisms, so let not you be a prey for shaytaan that he distances you from your Salafee brothers. Also shaytaan is far from those hizbees, because shaytaan doesn’t come to a house that’s already destroyed. Just as some of the Salaf would say – I think al-Awzaa’ee or other than him:

“Ahlus Sunnah causes the people to flee or isolate away from them.“

Why? Because Shaytaan comes to them and tries to lure them and tries to flee the people away from them. As for the people of innovation, they have calmness and tranquility, so shaytaan can use them as a trap to (misguide) the people. So beware, beware that you be deceived by the good mannerisms of these people and you fall into their trap, for verily this is nothing but poison and it is destruction. And beware, beware that you flee from the truth because of some alienation or some bad dealings that you find from your brothers.

Then – may Allaah not decree – if you do stumble across this matter, if you remain patient and seek your reward with Allaah, you will find your reward with Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic. So beware of the likes of this affair, may Allaah bless you.
